In 2011, Manish Kumar, a Dalit student of IIT-R, commited suicide ‘due to depression’ as stated by the police. However, Manish’s family claims that casteist abuses from their peers, inaction of administration and being forced to live outside of campus instead of acting on their complaints lead him to completely losing faith and henceforth, ending their life.
