We want this in sysprof.h (without UI components) so that we can use it to filter things in profilers. Therefore, we don't need to make it namespaced to "visualizers" since a time range selection is a fairly straightforward, and non-UI confined implementation.
Sysprof is a sampling profiler that uses a kernel module to generate
stacktraces which are then interpreted by the userspace program
"sysprof".

Debugging symbols
- The programs and libraries you want to profile should be compiled
with -fno-omit-frame-pointer and have debugging symbols available,
or you won't get much usable information.
